Ham Radio Awareness programme in PSCMR College


Dear Sir/Madam!

We are Happy to inform you that a seminar/Awareness porgramme  on Ham Radio communications was conducted in the seminar Hall of Potti Sriramulu Chalavadi Mallikarjuna Rao College of Engineering & Technology, Vijayawada from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm on 12th July 2017.

Dr. K. Nageswara Rao, Principal in his inaugural message mentioned that he himself has been a Ham Radio operator since his college days & encouraged all his students should become Radio Hams to explore new inventions in the field Electronics & Communications. He also mentioned that a decision was taken by the management to start a Ham Radio club in this college to boost up the Science & Technology activities among the students.

Out 48 candidates appeared Amateur Station operating License (A.S.O.L) Exam conducted recently, 47 have qualified. The Principal in his message mentioned that he has a desire to multiply this number to 10 times that is 470 in the days to come.

Mr. Ramesh Babu Arza, VU2RDM, Co-coordinator Ham radio Training center, Vijayawada has given detailed orientation on Ham Radio, through Power Point Presentation. He has shared his practical experience,   how he communicated an emergency message to the Relief Commissioner, during Orissa Super Cyclone regarding the forthcoming danger of major disaster of 70,000 lives in Paradeep Town ship. Immediately, necessary arrangements were made to send generator to restore the power supply and avoided major loss of lives.  
   
Dr. Prabhu Das Ankala, VU2DOS, from Hyderabad has participated and shared from his experiences through Ham Radio since 1985, how he has been enjoying in making new inventions and serving during Emergencies and Natural Calamities in different parts of the Country including Latur Earth Quake, Orissa Super Cyclone and other Major Disasters. His experiences have motivated all the participants.  

More than 300 students of 2nd, 3rd and 4th year of B.tech & Faculty members have been benefitted by this programme.  

Dr. J. Lakshmi Narayana, Professor & HOD, ECE, Prof. Rangarao, ECE, and other Faculty members coordinated this programme and made grand success.

At the end of the session all the participants were encouraged and challenged to become Radio Hams.
