Ham Radio Awareness in St. MARY'S GROUP OF INSTITUTIONS GUNTUR

As we all know that Hams are considered to be the National resource. As long as the cell phone is working we will be in the comfortable zone once if this facility fails to function we will come to know the importance of the Real use of Ham Radio. The recent incident of a catastrophic disaster in which total 42 rivers were in spate and simultaneous release of an excess of water from the dams caused heavy flooding in the living history of Kerala State which caught unawares the entire official machinery in the absence of a failure of all types Telecommunication facilities. It reminds us always to have an alternative independent communication system required to counter such emergency situations in an effective manner.

We have been provided an opportunity by Mr. Y. Raghava, Campus In charge, St. Mary’s Group of Institutions, Guntur to conduct an awareness programme on 20-9-2018, 2.30PM to 3.30PM on the uses of Ham Radio. Mr. D. Satyanarayana, HOD & Assoc. Professor of ECE swung into the action immediately and made all arrangements to hold the session in a hassle-free manner. Students were provided a detailed explanation about the uses of Ham Radio with the aid of PowerPoint presentation so as to one can easily understand how this activity will enhance their technical expertise in the field of Electronics. This programme has created a lot of enthusiasm not only among the students but also some of the faculty member are impressed upon this activity and expressed their desire to get Ham Radio License.
